Nokia N79 Review – multimedia device

Sorry about the long review, there is just so much to meantion! The Nokia N79 is a brand new mobile phone by Nokia and is apart of the N-series family. The N79 mobile phone is stylish and trendy handset which is a smart silver colour and comes available with three different Xpress-on smart covers. The user can change their mobile phone to suit their personality or to just reflect their mood and the screen will intuitively match the chosen coloured smart cover combinations. The colours available include, Canvass white with light Sea blue/ Espresso brown/ Olive green or Seal grey with Espresso brown/Coral red and white. The Nokia N79 mobile phone comprises a large 2.4 inch QVGA screen (320 x 240 resolution) displaying up to16 million colours with light sensor. The user can also benefit from the colour and brightness control, orientation sensor and the ambient light detector provided with the Nokia N79 mobile phone. The N79 handset is a nice size, dimensions are 110mm x 49mm x 15mm and weighs in at a light 97g, which is fantastic considering all the technology that is jam packed into it. The user can expect to gain up to a maximum of 5 hours and 30 minutes of talk time and up to 372 hours of stand by time with one single charge up of the battery.

There are a great number of call features that the user can enjoy using, some of which include, Automatic answer with headset or car kit, side volume keys, Push-to-Talk, Conference calling with up to 6 participants, Enhanced voice dialling and VoIP to name only a few.
Nokia N79 – Camera & Imaging

The Nokia N79 mobile phone comes equipped with a built-in 5 mega-pixel camera (2584 x 1938 pixels) which features so many fantastic imaging functions which include, CMOS sensor, Carl Zeiss optics, Tessar Lens, an amazing 20x digital zoom, auto-focus with 2 stage capture key, Duel LED flash and flash modes that can be, On, Off, Automatic or with Red-Eye reduction. There are so many features on this fantastic mobile phone that will enable the user to really capture a superb snap shot with other features including, Scene Modes; automatic, manual, close up, portrait, landscape, sport, night portrait and night. Light sensitivity Modes; high, medium, low and automatic, Colour tone Modes; normal, sepia, black & white, vivid and negative. There is a dedicated camera key making it easier for the user to use all the features and functions. The N79 mobile phone also comes with a slide cover not only for protection but for camera activation.

Once you have snapped your photo you can edit it using the Photo editor software provided with the Nokia N96. If you want to share it with friends and family simple take advantage of the Nokia Xpress share and transfer programs provided. Viewing photos is easy with the rotating gallery Navi wheel support.
Nokia N79 – Video Imagery

Now to the video capture mode on the Nokia N79 mobile phone. The main camera will record videos in VGA up to 640 x 480 pixels and up to 30/fps with an 8x digital video zoom. The front camera features a 2x digital zoom. The video camera records in MP4, 3GP, H.263 & H.264 file formats. Again, there is a vast selection of video features enabling the user to capture video footage in the best way possible. The user can optimise the footage by adjusting the Scene modes, Colour tone modes and Video white balance modes settings. There is RealPlayer™ function and Real time video sharing with other compatible users with this particular capability along with video streaming.
Nokia N79 – Music Player

The N79 mobile phone comes equipped with a digital music player that supports popular music formats such as, MP3, WMA, AAC, eAAC & eAAC+ formats. There are dedicated volume keys allowing the user to control the 3D sound effect stereo speakers with ease. The N79 mobile phone also features a built-in FM stereo radio with RDS support and visual radio support. The music player also offers it users Playlists, Equaliser, Selection by artist, Album & Genre, Album graphics display and Skins. Synchronising music with Windows Media Player along with Nokia music Manager, Store support and Podcasting support is also offered. This is just a small insight into what the Nokia N79 mobile phone offers it users with regards to the digital music player system.

Personalise the Nokia N79 with a ring tone. MP3, AAC and polyphonic tones are supported, with 33 built-in to get you started. The user can really have fun on the Nokia N79 mobile phone with the customisable profiles, wallpapers, screen savers, changeable colour themes and the automatic theme changes with Xpress-on smart covers. The funky N-series mobile phone comes available with 50 MB of internal dynamic memory and a MicroSD™ card slot allowing you to add a further 8GB of memory, enough for 2000 songs!
Nokia N79 – Internet & Connectivity

The user can surf the net with ease as the N79 mobile phone uses HTML/XHTML web browsers with the inclusion of Nokia web browser for Mini Map. The user can shop on-line or even stay in touch with friends with sites such as, Facebook, MySpace and Bebo anytime they please or just to stay up to speed with all the latest news and information. There are a number of technologies provided on the N79 handset which include, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA and TCP/IP support, they are all there to provide the user with a speedy service, great capabilities and a superb quality of service. The N79 mobile phone operates on a Quad-band network which covers GSM 850/900/1800/1900 & EGSM 900 and the handset will automatically switch between the GSM bands to find the best available network(roaming to us ordinary folk!). Connecting to other devices is easy with Bluetooth® 2.0, Micro-USB, High-Speed USB 2.0 and 3.5mm AV connectors all supported.
Nokia N79 – Messaging & Applications

The N79 mobile comes equipped with the following messaging services, SMS, MMS (multi-media messaging), Emailing, Text-to-Speech and Cell Broadcast. The email service supports IMAP, POP and SMTP protocols, as well as email attachments, email with filtering and support for Nokia Intellisync® Wireless Email. The N79 mobile phone really will allow the user to keep in touch in every way possible.
